Girls Basketball improves performance, but falls to Bristol Eastern

Bristol Eastern 55, Newington 50: Bristol Eastern outscored the Indians 19-14 in the first quarter, the widest margin of any of the game’s four quarters, and prevailed 13-12 in the second. Newington would go on the edge the Lancers in the third quarter with its own 13-12 count. The two teams deadlocked in the fourth quarter 11-11 to give the win to Bristol Eastern. The Lancers were led offensively by Diana Wnuk, who scored 15 points in the game. She also recorded nine rebounds. Jamilla Shoultz was second in Bristol Eastern scoring with 12 points and Miranda Janick hit a game-high two 3-pointers. Newington got very balanced scoring from its girls, with Kaila Lozado leading the team with 11 points. Behind her were Gio Rivera with 10 points, Kaitlyn Bernackiwith nine and Olivia St. Remy with eight. Both Rivera and Bernackihit 3-point shots. Bristol Eastern is once again over .500 with a 9-8 record. The loss drops Newington under the same mark with a record of 8-9. Courtesy of the NB Herald
