Girls Basketball finishes regular season 19-1

 Newington 55, Wethersfield 38: The Nor’easters entered halftime trailing by three points after getting outscored 13-5 in the second quarter, but went on to win their final regular season game decisively by winning the third quarer 25-5.

Lilly Ferguson and Bela Cucuta each dropped 15 points for Newington while Ferguson added eight rebounds to lead her team. Marlie Zocco added nine points, five rebounds and four assists while Karissa Zocco posted two points, six assists and five steals.

Both teams scored more than their Dec. 20 matchup, which Newington won 35-24. Wethersfield’s Vanessa Venditti led all scorers in this contest with 19.

The Nor’easters regular season record will sit at 19-1 and they will play their first-round CCC Tournament game Thursday at home.
